Get Your Ada Lovelace Party Going

It's Ada Lovelace Day. Since BlogHer is all about supporting women in engineering, science, technology and math, we have a whole lotta Ada Lovelace party happening right here.

First of all, I'm going to tell you about the woman in tech that I admire and want to share with the world. Then we want all of you out there who wrote a whole blog post about your most admired woman in STEM in honor of Ada to share your posts by leaving a link. Finally, those of you who didn't write a blog post, but still have a deserving woman in mind are invited to leave her name and a brief paragraph about why she's awesome in the comments.

It's all good Ada Lovelace fun no matter how you do it.

My Most Admired: Emily Lewis

Emily Lewis is a web designer running her own business at Emily Lewis Design. She has a blog at A Blog Not Limited. She's written a book about microformats and part of a book about HTML5. She writes guest columns for Script Junkie and other techie places.

Emily does podcasts about Expression Engine and about the tech scene in Albuquerque, where she lives. She performs a great community service to the Albuquerque web tech community by co-managing a group called Webuquerque that hosts educational/social events for webheads. She speaks on panels for tech events such as SXSW, MIX, and others.

To summarize Emily, she's an outstanding creative professional who is a recognized name and who makes many contributions to her chosen field of web design. Three cheers for Emily!

Share Your Ada Lovelace Post

Did you write about the woman in STEM you most admire this year? Well, share, will you? Leave your post info in the Mr. Linky so we can read it.

Got a Name that Deserves a Mention?

Maybe you didn't write a post, but you know the perfect woman to honor on Ada Lovelace Day. Jane Goodwin told me on Facebook that she would mention Ada herself. She said,

Why is Ada Lovelace cool? None of would be sharing on Facebook and Twitter and G+, or blogging, or doing ANYTHING computer-related if not for Ada Lovelace! She was the world's first programmer! An inspiration to all intelligent women (and men) everywhere. She might possibly have been one of my idols for many years.

Who do you think we need to know about? Leave a comment and tell us a little bit about your favorite pick for the Ada Lovelace party.
