Get The Look: Kerry Washington at the SAG Awards
The main objective here is to make your look soft and elegant. The skin is flawless, so not too much foundation. You're looking for sheerness in your look. All the makeup on the runways have been showing flawless, less made up faces recently, so this look is completely on trend. Don’t worry, you can do it! It’s all in the application.
Start with a light moisturizer to prep the skin. Then use a cream or liquid foundation, tinted moisturizer or a BB Cream (whichever you prefer) with a brush to ensure even application (I prefer a stipling brush or a powder brush so you can get really even coverage.) If you have any trouble areas, you can spot conceal with some concealer and a small flat brush. Finish with a mineral powder for a radiant glow. Apply this with a brush as well so your face will look less cakey.
Use a creamy blush in a soft pink hue. If you are darker skinned, you can go brighter. Don’t be afraid to use some color! Apply by starting on the apples of your cheeks and blending outwards with your fingers. If you are feeling daring, you can use some highlighter along your cheekbones too!
This is a smokey eye, so you can adjust the intensity for day or night. There are so many tutorials on YouTube for these kinds of looks. If you haven’t watched any, I highly suggest you poke around for one that you like. For Kerry’s look, use a lighter shadow in the corners of your eyes and the darker shades along the lash line and outward. Top with a few coats of mascara or some false lashes if you dare!
Lips are a rosey nude pink, I would suggest using a stain with a gloss on top. The stain will give you longevity and a natural look. Kerry is wearing a shade that is on the pink side, but if you are not a pink lip kind of girl you can do a nude lip too and it would still work.
This look would be FANTASTIC for date night, girls night, any night really. It’s very sultry, but not overtly so. You can follow this guide with a few things you already have at home, or head out and grab a few new items to try! If you end up trying this let me know in the comments!
