This past Saturday we attended what I hope will be the first of many more events.  We attended the Food Truck Wars in Palm Bay, Florida.   We had never experienced this type of event, but were very interested in seeing the types of foods and the trucks.

There were 40 different food trucks with the majority being Bar B Q and various Hispanic food offerings.  One of the trucks was called the Crabby Chris. I tried to get my Chris to get his picture taken with the logo. He didn't think that was funny.  I did though.

The event started at 2 pm and ended at 8 pm.  It was held at the college grounds about 1/2 mile from our home.  This is the very same place that the City of Palm Bay has the fireworks demonstration for the 4th of July.  This means plenty of parking.  Parking was most definitely needed as the turnout was great!  I was very glad we got there around 3:30 pm.  Parking was good and we could still walk among the food trucks without being jostled about the first time around.

The trucks were imaginative and the food was very good.  People were enjoying themselves.  Tables and tents would have been nice, but it was not necessary when we were there.  It would have been needed later on when the crowd was larger.

The sponsors of the event had a few tents around the outer edge of the food trucks.  The best tents were the Geico and AT&T tents.  The city of Palm Bay had a tent too.  There was even a band playing when we were there.  Sadly the speaker system volume was too low to even know it they were any good or not.

We ate at the London Fish and Chippy.  The girl who took our order even had a British accent.  We ordered the calamari and chips. This was very good and well made.  We left as once you eat there really wasn't much more to do.  There was a children’s play area that was of a good size.   You could vote for your favorite food trucks and such.

All in all it was a great event. One of which the City of Palm Bay needs to have more often.  We live in a very nice city and the people who live here need to have things to do.   There are only a couple of suggestions I would have made to the organizers.   The first being the need for a few more tents and tables to eat in and on.  The other would be to pair it with an outdoor market, more music, or even a car show to go along with it.

We left about 45 minutes after we got there with lunch in our bellies, a free water bottle from Geico, and happy thoughts that this may be back!  The crowd increased while we were there and the parking lot was filling into the lots that were closer to our local college.   All in all it was a great time.

I would really recommend attending this type of event.  The food is good and reasonably priced.  Just seeing that many food trucks lined up was impressive. Thank you City of Palm Bay and all the sponsors for a great event and a huge thank you to Food Truck Wars for bringing this awesome event to our city!
