Okay, I'm just going to say it. I love ACDC. I can't put a finger on exactly why I love the band. I'm not really the head banging type. I've never ratted my hair or worn black leather. I have realized though, that certain activities can be improved simply by adding a little ACDC to the mix. I've listed a combination of these activities and songs below. Try them out at home and see if you agree with my ACDC hypothesis.
Waking up in the Morning and Listening to "For Those About to Rock, We Salute You"
I am not a morning person. I would liken my body in the morning to that of a very unmotivated zombie. I almost need something beyond my basic will power to lift my body out of bed. For me, this little something extra is ACDC's "For Those About to Rock, We Salute You". The beginning of the song starts slow and gradually builds until it starts to rock out. It's the perfect way to get your body moving in the morning. It will at least get you from the bed to the coffee machine.
Driving in Heavy Traffic and Listening to "Highway to Hell"
Traffic is never fun, but somehow listening to "Highway to Hell" makes traffic a little more bearable. It's the perfect song to help free the road rage in a positive way. It's fun to sing out frustrations instead of stomping on the gas pedal.
Jogging and Listening to "Thunderstruck"
Workouts are great, but sometimes it's difficult to get motivated. Listening to "Thunderstruck" before or during a workout makes me feel like a kick-ass super hero though. It will give you the energy to power through an intense workout. Make sure to program this song into your workout playlist.
Picking Out an Outfit and Listening to "Back in Black"
When dressing up for a night out, you need a soundtrack to go with your outfit selections. "Back in Black" is a backdrop for a mini fashion show, whether you're wearing black or bright orange. For me, I have to try on about five outfits before I get to the one I want. Listening to a fun and high-energy song makes trying on outfits that much more enjoyable. It's like my little war cry before I go out for the evening.
Working and Listening to "It's a Long Way to the Top if You Wanna Rock n' Roll"
This song is like my montage music. I know we all remember those 1980's movie montages in which the characters accomplish amazing feats in less than five minutes, all while listening to an inspirational song. If I was a character in one of those movies, my inspirational song would be "It's a Long Way to the Top if You Wanna Rock n' Roll". It's a humorous song, but it still motivates me. Even though it's silly, it reminds me that I have a lot to do and I better get to work.
It's weird, but ACDC really does make these daily tasks more fun for me. Try listening to any of these songs while accomplishing these activities and see if they make them more enjoyable for you.
