Fiscal What?

The thing about the Right Wing is that is SUPPOSED to be fiscally conservative. Socially, it didn’t always want to drag us back into the Medieval period, but it was supposed to be all about a balanced budget and limits and whatnot. Eisenhower, the last Real Republican, took a look around, saw what needed to be done, and taxed accordingly. The national debt sank like an anvil under his leadership. He was not a warmonger either. He coined the phrase military-industrial complex and warned Americans about it on his way out of office.

In fact, the national debt fell or held steady under every President following him until Reagan came into office. Thanks to Reagan’s “Voodoo Economics” and “Trickle Down” bullshit and “Star Wars” spending spree, national debt skyrocketed:

Obviously, it went back down a BIT under Clinton and has been wafting high on the wings of the Bush Tax Cuts and Wars By Deception ever since. President Obama has been steadily reducing the deficit, but thanks to a lack of “revenue” (AKA Taxes on the 1%) the national debt keeps on keeping on.

I think it is fairly obvious that the Republicans haven’t been fiscally conservative since the 1970s. The icing on this mendacious cake is the fact that in the GOP’s zealous attempts to repeal Obamacare – which they claim to be doing because it costs too much – has cost the US Taxpayers about $50 Million smackaroos.

How the math works: “Republicans' many fruitless attempts at repealing the Affordable Care Act have taken up at least 80 hours of time on the House floor since 2010, amounting to two full work weeks. As the House, according to the Congressional Research Service, costs taxpayers $24 million a week to operate, those two weeks amounted to a total cost of approximately $48 million.”

The GOP could have used those 80 hours formulating an amended but still viable ACA, or produced an ACA they thought would be better, but NOPE – there is no official Republican alternative to the Democrat backed Obamacare. They are like a bunch of whiney kids screaming that they don’t want anything you cooked for dinner, but won’t tell you what they will eat.

Eisenhower, whom the founder of the The John Birch Society (proto-Teabaggers) accused of being a communist, would piss on the heads of the current Republicans for the atrocities they have committed on the once Grand Old Party and slap them across the face with his junk.

I like Ike.
