FiLIP is the brainchild of Sten Kirkbak, who lost his 3-year old son Filip for thirty minutes one afternoon. The experience inspired an idea for a device to keep parents and their young children in touch. Designed with kids safety in mind, FiLIP is a stylish, rugged and water-resistant alternative to a mobile phone device; and because it is worn on the wrist, the chances of it getting lost or misplaced is far less likely. With FiLIP, parents can monitor a child's location at anytime, as well as set it to provide alerts whenever a child steps away from their predefined safe zones. You can also send messages to your child's FiLIP as well as talk to them over AT&T's cellular network.
The device also comes with an emergency button that, when pressed, will send a text message to all of its five stored phone numbers. It will then begin recording ambient sounds and immediately dialing the stored phone numbers one by one until someone answers. By far, this is the best accessory I've ever seen for children between the ages of 5-11 in a long time!
