Today we're sharing 10 (well, 11 really) favorite story books we happen to own, though there are plenty of others we regularly check out of our local library.
We have literally been reading this book to her since she was born, perhaps even before then. It's a quick little book that she can now read herself and was one of the first ones she tried on her own. I'm sure it helped that she had the entire book memorized. If you're looking for a book to gift for new parents, we highly recommend this one.
Another parent favorite is this classic from Mercer Mayer because... Seriously... Just GO to bed. Stalling is one of our most common occurrences and this book makes light of that very thing. It makes us smile for a moment before we get to the point of yelling. And that point comes. Often.
I'll admit this is one of my favorites. There have been times when it was not requested and I read it anyway because I like it. The rhythm and rhyme of this book is catchy and I think it's cute. So Pie gets to listen to it whether she wants to or not.
A sweet book that was great for those years of separation anxiety and still holds a little spot in our hearts now. It's a short one that we've read for a long time. Besides it's loving message, it's fantastically illustrated.
We're an animal-book loving family and that's one of the reasons this book made the list. Another is that it's a quiet and calm book that helps bring down the craziness of the day at bedtime. If you've got an animal lover, like Pie, you might love this one too.
Another beautifully illustrated book with a sweet and loving message. We've been a fan of this one for a long time too. What more do you need than momma and baby animals saying goodnight?
There are some classics that just transcend time and generations. You've seen this book appear of another of our lists. This book was one of Pie's favorites to read on her own when she started. It was one of ours when we were kids too. While it may not be about going to bed, it does make a good bedtime story.
I love this book, it's cute, short, and rhymes. Three things that are perfect for bedtime. Now we are reading chapter books at most bedtimes, I don't mind going back to these bedtime favorites every now and again. This one is always on my list.
This isn't really a story book, it's a bunch of short stories that are just as silly as the rest of Boyton's books. And as it says right there on the cover, it's for lively little kids. It's rare our Pie is anything but lively. We probably will always sing the silly lullaby from time to time.
