I posted this message on my blog today, and I thought some (or many) of the women at Blogher might relate:
We are out of control. I see it multiple times a day when I check statuses on Facebook. (For the two of you left in the country who do not know how Facebook works, people post status updates that get fed to all their friends. Statuses sound something like "Tracy is sick and tired of the anger, pettiness, and divisiveness that the 2008 presidential election is causing.")
We aren't supporting one another anymore. There is a clear split among those who think Sarah Palin is a fascist b*tch and that McCain is an ass for nominating her, and everyone else. And, what's happening is that people are so fired up about their side that they are sniping, taunting, fighting, spewing lies, etc.
Well, I've had it. I posted a story on my blog A Stream of Conscientiousness (http://crewt.blogspot.com
) last week on the issues. Sadly the next day Armageddon occurred when McCain announced his Veep nomination, and it seems the whole country has forgotten that the ultimate point of this campaign season is to elect the most qualified candidate to take his or her place in the Oval Office. I haven't written anything about the issues in a week, because I've had my panties in a snit over Palin. I'm done. No I'm not voting for her or McCain, but I'm not going to play these games anymore. It doesn't matter to me whether I actually feel Palin is qualified or not -- I'm voting for Barack Obama. It wouldn't have mattered who McCain put on his ticket -- I don't support his platform.
So, for my friends, both Democrat and Republican, who take the time to read this, I am no longer participating in the games. I have no idea if the candidates will decide soon to get back to the issues, but that is what I am going to do.
