BlogHer's 2010 Election Watch List: Races and Issues

Following all of our political coverage up to Election Day, the BlogHer political team has put together a watch list of races featuring women candidates and unique initiatives in a variety of states. We'll be covering each of the races on the Watch List all day Tuesday as results come in, and Wednesday as we get final poll numbers and write-ups from community bloggers.

Here is the BlogHer Midterm Elections Watch List, linkable to posts where we'll be updating live until all of the results are in and all races have been called. Each race is linked to another post here, so you can follow along in more detail.

Alaska: Lisa Murkowski (Write-in-Incumbent) vs. Joe Miller (R) vs. Scott McAdams (D) -- updated - Looks like it may work out for Murkowski after all, but it will take time for the ballots to be counted.

California: Carly Fiorina (R) vs. Barbara Boxer (D-Incumbent) - updated - Boxer wins, continues to represent California.

Connecticut: Linda McMahon (R) vs. Richard Blumenthal (D) - updated - called for Blumenthal.

Delaware: Christine O'Donnell (R) vs. Chris Coons (D) - updated - O'Donnell loses to Coons.

Missouri: Roy Blunt (R) vs. Robin Carnahan (D) - updated - Blunt wins.

Nevada: Sharron Angle (R) vs. Harry Reid (D-Incumbent) - updated - surprisingly, Reid pulled off a win.

North Carolina: Richard Burr (R) vs. Elaine Marshall (D) - updated - Burr projected to win.

Arizona: Jesse Kelly (R) vs. Gabrielle Giffords (D) - updated - leaning Giffords, but still too close to call.

Florida: Sandy Adams (R) vs. Suzanne Kosmas (D) - updated - Adams looks to win.

Kansas: Kevin Yoder (R) vs. Stephene Moore (D) - updated - Yoder won.

Minnesota: Michelle Bachmann (R-Incumbent) vs. Tarryl Clark (D) - updated - Bachmann wins.

South Dakota: Kristi Noem (R) vs. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin (D) - updated - Noem wins.


California: Meg Whitman (R) vs. Jerry Brown (D) - updated - Brown is the winner.

Florida: Rick Scott (R) vs. Alex Sink (D) - updated - After a long night, Scott declared the winner.

New Mexico: Susana Martinez (R) vs. Diane Denish (D) - updated - Martinez wins.

Oklahoma: Mary Fallin (R) vs. Jari Askins (D) - updated - Fallin wins the mommy war.

South Carolina: Nikki Haley (R) vs. Vincent Sheheen (D) - updated - Haley wins. Tighter race than many polls predicted.

Ballot Initiatives

Arizona: Prop. 106 - Removes requirement of citizens to hold health insurance (although would likely involve a large federal dispute). - updated

California: Prop. 19 - Legalizes Marijuana use in some places, but still would be illegal under federal law. - updated - failed.

Colorado: Amendment 62 - Changes the state constitution to define a "person" as "every human being from the beginning of the biological development of that human being." - updated - failed.

Oklahoma: State Question 755 - Bans courts from relying on international law and specifies that Sharia law, a set of laws not be used to resolve disputes. - updated - passed.

Washington: Initiative 1098 - Taxes the super rich to educate the poor. - updated - failed.
