Brad WomackI’m caving.  I’m going to watch The Bachelor tonight.  Can’t help it.  Texas bar owner Brad Womack is back to kick off Season 15.

I don’t know why everyone was so surprised ABC invited the 37-year-old back into The Bachelor fold.  Womack was one of the most controversial bachelors in the television show’s history and the self-described, “biggest jerk in America.”

What you have to wonder though is why Womack said yes?

The previews show him being slapped by a woman, ready to settle the score for cheerleader Jenni Croft and real estate agent Deanna Pappas, who Womack dumped during the final rose ceremony back in season 11.  Although I’m kind of confused about why everyone hates him so much.

Is it because he left both women tears?  Aren’t weepy women always an essential ingredient in The Bachelor Formula.  Is it because he didn’t fork over an engagement ring – for an engagement he would have likely broken off later – or at the very least a promise ring? At the time, Womack said he realized that after weeks of dating, he had not fallen in love, and had decided to leave the show the same way he entered it - solo.  Big whoop. Isn’t that called being emotionally responsible?

Oh I know, you felt bad for Deanna.  Why?  Like the other 30 women, she signed up for a fairy tale and in true Grimm fashion, most fairytales end, badly.

Brad now admits that he had commitment issues and went through three years of therapy. He says that he believes in the fairytale that is The Bachelor but he also believes in reality, true reality. So in spite of the hundreds of e-mails and threatening phone calls his family members received telling him he was a chump, here he is again, smiling for the camera.  I wonder what his therapist thinks.
