Recently I finished a selection of short stories by Margaret Atwood, Bluebeard's Egg. First I'll just say that if you are an Atwood fan, and you haven't read this, I highly recommend it. But to get to the rest of my post...

I very rarely pick up collections of short stories to read as a general rule. One of the reasons I read is so that I can escape whatever stresses and craziness are going on in my life otherwise, and it's hard to do that with short stories - they just don't tend to suck me in quite as much as a good novel. I don't lose myself in them as easily, mostly because they don't last long enough for me to do that.
