"Twilight" and "Legend of Hercules" actor Kellen Lutz is coming out of the cave about his Paleo diet. He feels it's the ideal choice for keeping him lean and mean, noting that the plan "made me even more healthy" in a recent interview with Knoxville Online.
"I adapted the Paleo diet (which mimics the basics of what cavemen ate), which helped me because I had tons of energy. I was just so in love with the role and being on set that I wasn’t sleeping much," explained Kellan.
He appreciated the weight loss benefits, improvement with sleeping and higher energy levels.
"Sundays were like my crash days and I’d just lay there. But I adapted that and it made me even more healthy and able to stay sick-free and push, because I pushed myself quite a bit. I really started shrinking as well and getting really tight, which was quite nice," he noted.
What rocks about his credit to the caveman diet (no pun intended): Kellan discovered that the Paleo plan, properly followed, can do more than facilitate weight loss. It can enhance your sleep and boost your energy level. One of the first to unveil these benefits is Mark Sisson, author of "The Primal Blueprint: Reprogram your genes for effortless weight loss, vibrant health, and boundless energy" (click for details).
One of Mark's Paleo principles focuses on sleep: "Primal Blueprint Law #6: Get Adequate Sleep." And for those who think that means stocking up on OTC sleep remedies: Wrong. Mark explains how to use food to replace all those sleep medications.
As for the weight loss and energy benefits that Kellan cites, they also are part of tweaking your current diet to mimic our Paleo ancestors, says Mark. And drinking coffee loaded with sugar and fake creamers isn't the solution. Tip: If you're thinking that the Paleo diet sounds, well, boring, we also recommend Mark's scrumptious cookbook: "Primal Blueprint Quick and Easy Meals: Delicious, Primal-approved meals you can make in under 30 minutes (click for more information).
