Is ‘CURVY’ still a description of a women’s hourglass shape or a friendly euphemisism for FAT? Remember Christina Hendricks from MAD MEN getting upset at being referred to by an Aussie journalists as full figured?

A lot of women are getting upset of the usage of the word CURVY’ almost accusing larger women of STEALING it thus making them no longer being able to be use the word to identify themselves.

According to the URBAN DICTORY DEFINITION the difference between CURVY and FAT is the muffin top! Curvy having boobs, defined waist and bum. This description also sounds like VOLUPTOUS to me.

Unlike the American “thick vs fat” debate in which women seemingly fit into either category divided by an extremely thin line. Larger women using the word ‘curvy’ to describe themselves is more about reappropriation of the word.

Personally, I’m comfortable with calling myself a “fat girl” so I CLAIM the word FAT as merely a description rather than having a connotation. I really don’t mind how others describe themselves as it has no baring on how I view myself. However, I know of some plus size women who dont’ like their counterparts using CURVY.

I know there’s a lot of opinons on this debate.

What do you think?
