Today I received my September subscription of Ipsy, its bright pink envelope benocking me. For those not familiar with Ipsy, let me give you the cliff notes: Ipsy is a "personalized" beauty subscription. Every month you are supposed to receive 5 beauty items, worth at least $10.00 (the price of the service) and a small zippered bag. This service was first offered by Michelle Phan, yes the one and the same from Em cosmetics and it features around 5 or 6 YT gurus selecting it products of the moment. This makes you believe that the bags will be good and interesting.
I've been receiving these bags for almost an year and I have to say that I have been less than impressed by them over the months, occasionally they will send you a decent travel size item but mostly it's the same items regurgitated time and time again.
This time my bag had yet another small travel set of shampoo and conditioner by John Frieda (they usually retail for around $ 2.50 each), a sample size mascara by Elizabeth Mott (usually free with purchase), yet another NYX eyeshadow ($ 4.49 at Ulta) and a black khol liner. This month's bag is a royal blue with black butterflies, nothing to brag home about. They also added a sample of Em cosmetics life palette, the ones on paper like the Mary Kay samples.
I can't tell you how many Nyx items I have received in the past, don't get me wrong I like the brand but I don't like getting them every month. This goes for the other items as well, a person can only use so many black pencils or shampoos and even though it's only $10.69 a month I still think we deserve better.
