Two of my Plus Size Princesses recently asked me about plus size formal dresses. Naomi is looking for a prom dress, and Rose is on the hunt for plus size wedding guest dresses (so am I!). Their emails got me thinking about how hard it is to find trendy, plus size formal dresses, especially if you’re on a budget. So I grabbed a few of my blogger boos of different shapes, sizes, and styles, and we created a plus size formal look book for you, with ideas for prom and other fancy events.

For our first looks, we all chose classic dresses that fit our personalities. I wore vintage-inspired pieces to both of my proms. The delicate sleeves and sheer capelet are a perfect combination for any of my girls who are nervous about showing their arms. You can drape it like a shawl over your arms, and then let it hang from the detachable snaps while you’re on the dance floor! This dress also has a full skirt with tulle underneath, so it's poofy and fun to twirl in (I have a black-tie wedding next week, and I’m definitely wearing this dress again for that).
My favorite thing about buying an out-of-the-box piece like a plus size tutu or sequin skirt is that you can pair it with dressy or casual tops, and it will always look good. Chastity and I wore super-budget-friendly tops with our tutus.
Allison and Alissa did the same thing with a sequined skirt and a simple black top: Add heels and lots of jewelry, and we’re good to go!
