There are a lot of "beauty-product-of-the-month" options available out there. What are they? They're essentially a subscription that costs usually around $10 per month, to beauty products and each month, the provider sends the subscriber a certain number and variety of products to try.
I've been a subscriber to Ipsy Glam Bags for over a year and I've been pleased. It's a fun way to try products from variuos brands, many of which I hadn't heard of before they arrived in my mailbox. Each month, it's an exciting little surprise, almost like a gift (that I'm paying for), but a surprise nonetheless. With every shipment comes a cute little makeup bag which houses the five products inside. Sometimes I've been delighted to find Big Sexy Hair products or Mica eye shadow and lip gloss. Whatever shows up, it's fun to try and experiment with, and quite frankly, if I can tell immediately something is too dark or not for me, I don't open it but instead save it for a friend or potentially a little gift for someone who would appreciate it. The same is true for the makeup bags. One only needs so many but they're very cute and can be used to store so many things besides makeup; hair ties, feminine products, even as a pen and pencil case!
This month's products were quite cool. I received a mini POP lip gloss in a pretty dark pink that went on very shiny. I like it. My daughter likes it more. Guess who's getting it? I also received a light pink Zoya nail polish. I'm very discerning when it comes to nail polish and this passed my tests. It goes on nicely and didn't chip for several days. It's a light enough pink that it doesn't draw screaming attention to my winter hands, but pretty and feminine and soft. A First Aid Beauty red clay mask was also in the bag and admittedly, I haven't tried it yet but I shall. I'll report back how that works. My favorite product this month was Jesse's Girl (not to be confused with Rick Springfield's JESSIE's Girl, wink, wink) eye shadow compact. It houses 9 great eye shadows of various greens, golds, and browns which go nicely with my green eyes and my daughter's lovely brown eyes. Very pretty and versatile and as I said, my favorite item this month. The fun product is J. Cat Beauty false eyelashes. I've never officially worn false eyelashes (I'm not counting my Mom's that I found in her bathroom drawer as a child that I used to attempt to paste onto my lids), but I may break this out one day and see how they look. They're all the rage in Hollywood so who knows, maybe they'll glam me up some. After all, it is a glam bag and I do so love glam and pretty things.
