Mascara. It's on my everyday agenda. Sometimes that is the only makeup I put on in a day along with some under eye concealer. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that many women feel that same way.
Due to the fact that I do wear it everyday - it's the one item I will splurge on to ensure I'm getting a good product. Now, you have heard me talk about my Sunday Riley "The Influencer" Mascara before on several occasions. I am still a loyal patron of my Sunday Riley and it is still very much a staple in my daily routine. However, I have found one more mascara option that has me doing a double take. It offers a couple things that Sunday Riley doesn't...
This wand of magic is called Chanel Inimitable Intense Mascara. I buy it through Nordstrom - which always has free shipping, I know what I'm getting, and they are reliable. It comes in four colors and I buy the black color which they call 10 Noir.
Let me tell you what I like about it. I like the fine bristled brush and the formula has some 'hold' to it which I now think is key. The way your lashes look right after application is pretty much the way your lashes look at the end of the day. I can't say that with my Sunday Riley. I usually have to apply several coats of that mascara throughout the day to maintain the effect. Not with Chanel Inimitable. In fact you wouldn't want to double up coats with this mascara after it's dried. You would get chunky, spidery eyes.
Time is of the essence when applying this mascara. You have to be quick and get it done in the first couple swipes. The more you keep applying it to a section to 'fix' a swipe the more it dries and then the look is less than appealing. On a couple occasions if I didn't like the way it looked after applying it I had to wash it all off and try again. BUT when you get it right...it's like magic.
I found a technique that works wonders. Curl your lashes, make sure any old makeup is off of them as well. Then use the mascara first on your bottom lashes...a couple swipes each should do. Then for the top lashes go behind your lashes first and start to roll the brush backward. It'll grab the lash and separate it while curling it up and back. I'm telling you this stuff has 'hold.' It will accentuate the curl and define the lash very, very well. Then end by doing a couple of traditional swipes on the front. If you are wanting to add another coat make sure to do it while the lash is still wet, otherwise you'll have an issue on your hands.
I love that this mascara has hold. It separates, defines, lengthens, and curls like a champ. It doesn't clump (unless applied incorrectly) and gives you a lasting look the entire day!! Now, I don't use a primer for my lashes, but you could for probably an even more dramatic effect. I'm always big on the natural look.
What I've been doing is adding a top coat of my Sunday Riley 'The Influencer' when I'm all done. It adds the finishing touch I want to fan out the lashes and add some gloss.
Another thing I've noticed that sells me on this product is it doesn't leave flakes or black beneath your eyes at the end of the day. Again, HUGE selling point in my book. Even some of the best ones leave you with some touch up work at the end of the day.
I've been using Chanel Inimitable for at least a month now and it continues to impress me. I'm not sure how long the product will last though. I'm hoping for at least three months in order to make the price ($30) worth it. Go figure my two favorites mascaras are also the most expensive on the market. Like I said earlier - for something I utilize every single day without fail, I'm willing to splurge as long as the product can stand the test of time.
If you're a mascara junkie like me, you may want to try this product out. At least go onto nordstrom.com and check out the reviews. It's almost rated five stars for a reason! No, I don't get paid one cent for this post. It's just me trying to 'share the luv!'
