It's spring and a little over a month until summer. I'm suddenly happy and filled to the brim with Vitamin D. Over the past several weeks I have shed my winter layers to the back of my closet and made lists of pieces I need and want to buy to boost up the oft black/gray/brown color palette of the colder months. The first thing I bought? These shoes from DSW by Steve Madden. I am serious about this color thing.
Let me backtrack and say that I am that girl who will wear pink pretty much year round. I own a bright pink winter coat and my fall coat is fire engine red. But then I'll make poor choices like a brighter-than-the-sun yellow sweater on my short torso. So based on personal experience, my general rule for adding in color for those who are color wary is by not doing so with reckless abandon but by throwing in a few key pieces to add some pizzaz. Besides the above shoes here are a few of my favorite spring/summer items:
I actually own this one as well. It's a lot bolder than it comes off on the computer. It's perfect not just because it's slim but because in the depths of my purse I can never find my wallet. Now I never lose it.
I am in love with statement necklaces. There were a few pieces similar to this over the winter from Anthropologie. But in the middle of February, it never felt right to throw some random flowers and pastels around my neck. Now that it's May? I want a million lovely hued necklaces. They're excellent at adding some color to your face.
Oh yes, I did say Talbots and I'm not afraid to shop there. This dress is adorable, comes in a variety of colors and can be dressed up or dressed down. What's not to love?
I love these open cardigans. Best idea ever. Also this Hawaiian Red brings out the color in your eyes.
What do you plan on purchasing (or unearthing from last spring's wardrobe) to brighten up your outfits?
