The Eyes Have It, and By It, I Mean "Crow's Feet": Let's talk about eye cream!

I turned 30 last week, which, while exciting, is a reminder that I'm hurtling rapidly toward the Mature Skin section at the drugstore. And -- if the ads with which I'm continually bombarded are any indication -- probably also some open-knit sweaters, a sensible gray pageboy, and and Chico's palazzo pants. I mean, I'm assuming.

A few months back, knowing that 30 was looming, I took the step of undertaking the Great Eye Cream Search of 2010, as I embark on the path of (sigh) preventative/anti-aging skin care. I seriously left no stone unturned in my quest, and I figured I would pick my favorites from each each price point (Drugstore, Sephora-Level, and Ridiculous), and share them here. (Eye cream in general is pretty pricey, however, a little goes quite a long way, so it's important to factor that in.)

Burt's Bees Royal Jelly Eye Creme ($15) A lot of reviews describe this as "soothing," and that's a perfect word for it. It's also very, very rich, made my whole eye area look well-rested, and has a very subtle scent. I love that it's (mostly!) natural, as well. On an exceedingly superficial note, I adore the jar, to boot.

Origins GinZing Eye Cream ($30) - I got a sample of this as a gift-with-purchase, and LOVED it, so much so that I actually went back and bought it myself. It has caffeine and "natural optic brighteners," which...well, I don't know what they ARE, exactly, but I do know that my undereye area was visibly de-puffed, and -- well, yes. A bit brighter.

La Prairie Cellular Radiance Eye Cream ($295) - Ha! Ha ha! On a whim, I picked up a small sample of this at the counter during my search, curious if this would make a marked difference. Yeah, no. I mean, it's FINE, and WORKS -- very nicely -- but no better than any of the cheaper ones I tried, and certainly not enough to justify the price tag.

There are a metric ton of eye creams out there, and as I mentioned, I may have tried (nearly) all of them. The standout, to me, was GinZing. It's effective across the board, and pretty much does everything on my eye cream checklist: it smooths, it brightens, it de-puffs, and the price is right.

What are your favorite eye creams?
