Beach season is vastly approaching, and for any woman finding the right swimsuit can be nerve-wracking, gut-wrenching, and sometimes a pain in the butt. If you are a size 14 or below, you have always had options upon options of swimsuits to choose from. However, if you're a plus-size woman like myself, you know that finding the right swimsuit can be challenging, and we can be limited in our options. Well, this season, plus-size designers and retailers have produced some of the most amazing swimsuits for plus-size women ever.
Choosing from established brands or up-and-coming independent designers, plus-size women now have options upon options, too. What I like most about plus-size swimsuits this year is that they're sexier, on trend, an not basic black or flower-bombed. Designers Like Monif C. offer uber-stylish swimsuits with flair, and brands like Lane Bryant have stepped up their swimsuits with modern, flattering prints and cuts. Some up-and-coming independent designers like Nakimuli, Empress Lingerie, and Rue 107 offer trendy urban swimwear. If you're low on funds or have a limited budget for swimwear, then you need to check out Forever 21 plus and ASOS Curve for swimsuits under $60.
Being the self-proclaimed shopaholic that I am, I scoured the net for some of the most sexiest and most flattering swimsuits for those of us with a little extra meat on our bones. I promise you will find something that suits your personal style as well as makes you feel confident in your skin. Let 2013 be the year that you wow your friends and family at the beach by trying a fatkini, a.k.a. a plus-size bikini. Most importantly, let this year be the year that you step outside of your comfort zone, stop stressing over your body, let go of your insecurities and rock a bathing suit that says, "I'm coming out," like Diana Ross.
