Easy, stylish mom-doS

If you have time as a busy mom to throw your hair into a ponytail every day, you will most definitely have time to try these three easy ponytail alternatives. We promise!

With all that moms have going on in their lives, sometimes the best you can do with your hair is the same ol', same ol' ponytail. Yet with just a few tips and tricks, you can change that simple, everyday look into something new and more fun. All you need are a couple of clear elastic ponytail holders, a banana clip and a clip-in flower, and you're ready to go! Also, keep in mind that each of these styles will look adorable whether you have curly or straight hair, so try mixing it up!

Banana Clip/Faux Hawk

Banana Clip/Faux Hawk

In case you didn't know, the banana clip is making a comeback, and we are absolutely loving this look as a fun alternative to the standard ponytail. This look combines comfort with style by giving you a fun faux hawk without going too overboard with the trend! Also, the beauty of this gem is that it works with all textures of hair — thick or thin, curly or straight!

Here's how to get this look:

  1. First, of course, you'll need a banana clip. Then, with your hair pulled over to one side, open the clip and place it at the base of your scalp, open end facing up. Taking all your hair back over and inside the clip, use both hands to pull the clip upwards, combing all the hair into the middle. Simply attach at the top, and you're done!
  2. Got extra time and want to add some more sass? Grab some hairspray and a teasing comb to add more texture and volume to your ponytail. Just think '80s and you're on the right path!
Messy Pull Through

Messy Pull Through

This look is literally a fun "twist" to an easy side pony, and with the addition of a flower clip, it will make you look like you spent more time on your hair than you'll ever have to admit.

Here's how to get this look:

  1. Begin by securing a low side ponytail with a clear rubber band.
  2. With one hand holding the split, use the other hand to take the bottom half of your ponytail up and through the hole, pulling it back down in back. With just this one easy step, you now have your pony "twist." (For a more defined twist, you can even do this step twice!)
  3. You can keep it neat and clean like this, or for more of a messy, less put-together look, try pulling and tugging a bit on the twist as well as the hair surrounding it. In this case, the messier it is, the cuter the look.
  4. Now you can finish it off by adding your flower clip to the base of the twist, and you're ready to go.
Double Knot Side Pony

Double Knot Side Pony

While this style may look the most complicated of all, it only requires the ability to tie a simple double knot. As moms, that's something most of us do for our kids nearly every day. All you need to do is take your talent from their shoelaces to your ponytail, and you're on your way to a fun, new style.

Here's how to get this look:

  1. Begin with a low side ponytail.
  2. Separate the ponytail into two equal(ish) sides.
  3. Take one side behind the other and up and over, just as though you were tying a knot with your hair (because really, that's exactly what you're doing).
  4. Beneath this first knot, repeat the previous step again, and pull the second knot just as tight.
  5. Once you have two knots, take your clear rubber band and secure beneath the second knot.
  6. Now take your flower and clip it above the first rubber band to add a touch of flair, and your look is complete!
