Like many of us this time of year, we’ve made a resolution to hit the gym and really get in shape in 2013. While you should be focused on your workout and not how you’ll look afterward, it's easier said than done. We’ve put four of the best dry shampoos to the test with four fitness instructors for your after-workout beauty routine.
Used: After a Body Combat class
Smell: I loved it! It is light and fades with time — it definitely isn’t overwhelming like many other dry shampoos I’ve tried.
Texture: The texture was a little starchy and made my hair feel a bit stiff. My normally shiny hair looked a bit dull.
Volume: It added a bit of volume but not as much as I had hoped for.
Final answer: If you plan on sweating a lot, this may not be the choice for you. I recommend it if you are taking a light class or doing an easy workout on your own.
Used: After a Body Pump class
Smell: Very nice, even for someone who has a sensitive nose. My husband commented on how good it smelled (bonus!).
Texture: I was pleasantly surprised how well it worked. There were no white flakes or powder afterwards to worry about.
Volume: This added lots of volume and gave new life to ponytail hair.
Final answer: It was a spritz pump versus the aerosol and easy to apply. It worked great after a seriously tough workout. My hair looked amazing and stayed that way for the rest of the day!
Used: After a Boot Camp class
Smell: This smelled light and clean, not flowery or girlie, which I loved.
Texture: It made my hair feel really soft and very clean. People commented on how great my hair looked!
Volume: It really added a lot of volume! I felt like my hair looked even better than after a normal shampoo and condition session.
Final answer: Awesome choice for after class to head back to the office.
Used: After a Yoga-Pilates class
Smell: The smell was WAY too strong and overwhelming.
Texture: This made my hair feel really light and soft. I could run fingers through without it feeling stiff.
Volume: It added a little too much volume to my already big curly hair.
Final answer: This is perfect for after a really hard workout. It gives the appearance of freshly washed hair. But, like I said, the smell is overpowering and it added a little too much volume.
Depending on what you are looking for, these are all great choices. Though each of the four is a little different, they all will give you a great look to take back to the office or out on the town with friends. Don’t let spending time on your hair hold you back from getting fit this year! Now if we could only find yoga pants that flatter our booties...
