Dark Shadows- inspired style

Set in the '70s, the Dark Shadow's wardrobe took us all back to a much groovier time. Before you get your hands on a DVD of Dark Shadows, now in stores, SheKnows is here to help you steal the looks of these groovy characters from the past and make them modern.

Barnabas Collins

When vampire Barnabas (Johnny Depp) awakens in 1972, he fails to leave his 18th century wardrobe in, well, the 18th century. Instead of dissing him for being centuries behind the times, we draw menswear-for-women inspiration from his look.

Dark and dapper
Fear looking too masculine? This tie neck top has a regal detail fit for a femme fatale, $45 at ModCloth.

While Barnabas keeps it colonial with a hint of goth, we recommend copying his style by wearing tailored items. Create the three-piece suit look with a pant, blazer and vest combo. We like Gap’s straight pants and Ponte academy blazer ($50 and $88) and this Rubbish Trench Crop Vest ($24) from Nordstrom.

The dark purple is a beautiful color, and I think it would really make a statement this winter and fall season. I love when movies provide inspiration for fashion - great choice with this one!
