The blonde bombshell
Television beauty Laura Vandervoort is leaping from the silver screen to the big screen this summer and dropped in to share her beauty must-haves, obsession with Rebecca Minkoff and dish on her co-star Mark Wahlberg.
She caught our attention as Lisa on V and Kara on Smallville, but this blonde bombshell is continuing to conquer Hollywood this summer with her new movie, Ted, co-starring Mila Kunis and Mark Wahlberg. Read on to learn more about her favorite designers, skin-calming routine and how she keeps her locks so shiny and luscious.
SheKnows: How do you maintain your gorgeous blonde locks? Any specific routine?
Vandervoort: I try not to wash my hair every day unless I really need to for an event or work. Additionally, I'm always using Redken Blonde Shampoo, which helps maintain the color. I also take my vitamins and deep condition my hair once a week, which seems to help it handle the torture it goes through on set and at shoots.
SheKnows: What beauty items do you always keep in your makeup pouch?
Vandervoort: I always make sure I have black eyeliner and an HD Pressed Powder from Laura Mercier. I hate shine, and the powder is a great product to keep it under control throughout the day. Also, Jurlique's Rosewater Mist is great for keeping skin hydrated on the go.
SheKnows: How do you keep your skin so clear and refreshed?
Vandervoort: I am loving the skin cream called Face Food from Weleda. I use it on my face once in a while for intense moisture. I also love to use Jane Iredale’s Mineral Powder to stay concealed, but keep it light and healthy for my skin. Many of the face cleansing products from the Peter Thomas Roth line are great to use as well. On my days off, I love to use the Cucumber Gel Masque, especially to calm my skin.
"Right now I'm obsessed with Rebecca Minkoff. She has such incredible clothing and accessories."
SheKnows: Who are your favorite designers?
Vandervoort: Right now I'm obsessed with Rebecca Minkoff. She has such incredible clothing and accessories. I absolutely love her and her work. I'm also a fan of Stella McCartney and her vegan-friendly designs, as well as J. Mendel, Yeojin Bae and Contrarian.
SheKnows: What are your favorite brands to wear on the weekends when you’re off camera?
Vandervoort: I love Lululemon for hanging out and working out — it is so comfortable and Canadian! I also love J Brand jeans for hanging with my girls and for girls' nights out. Clover Canyon makes some really funky and comfortable blouses that I can throw on for anything and that I love to wear.
SheKnows: If you could wear one designer on the red carpet, who would it be?
Vandervoort: Chanel… or Prabal Gurung.
SheKnows: You have Ted coming out this summer; what did you love most about working with your co-stars?
Vandervoort: Yes! I'm extremely excited for Ted in July. I was thrilled to be a part of the film. The best experience for me, let's face it, was doing all of my scenes with Mark Wahlberg. I was terrified and star-struck (he was the first poster on my wall), but I somehow managed to get through my scenes without passing out. The cast is stellar, and Seth MacFarlane did an incredible job with the film. You can imagine the humor that it consists of with Seth behind it. I felt truly blessed to be a part of the film.
SheKnows: What’s next for you?
Vandervoort: Well, I just finished working on an episode of White Collar. It was fun to shoot in NYC (it was really my first stay in NYC). They were all very open and talented. There are a few other projects I am excited about and am working on at the moment. Fingers crossed, I will be heading to some comic conventions in Texas, London, Chicago and Montreal over the next few months to meet some of my sci-fi fans, and I'll also be heading to my sister's upcoming wedding! I also love connecting with my fans on Twitter when I am away on location or have down time. I just joined in December. I'm @Vandiekins22.
