Anna Sui + Hush Puppies = Awesome
Designer Anna Sui spent years crafting her image as the designer for colorful, yet ready-to-wear clothes for fashionable women around the globe. Now, she's teaming up again with super comfy shoe brand Hush Puppies for a collection of spring and summer shoes and sandals. Get read to drool over these colorful, er, puppies.
What we do we have in common with The Lorax star Taylor Swift? We both love the Anna Sui for Hush Puppies collection. The country cutie wore some new styles for the line during a Teen Vogue magazine shoot and quickly fell in love.
Of course, that's what the iconic designer set out to do when she created the second collection for Hush Puppies.
"Anna Sui and Hush Puppies are the perfect fit," she said in a statement. "My customary mix of vintage and rock influences usually include a wink to my Midwest background. There's always that underlying spirit of American pop culture behind everything I do."
The collection shows off that rock 'n' roll influence perfectly.
"I guess that to me those were my idols growing up," Sui told TalkAsia of why music and celebrities influence her so much. "And initially when I started my business that was my only goal, was to dress rock stars and people that would do rock concerts. It quickly went beyond that but that was my initial reason."
The spring/summer 2012 collection debuted in September during New York Fashion Week and stores quickly asked for a global launch. Sui kindly obliged and the Anna Sui for Hush Puppies shoes will be available in stores in late April.
The shoes include everything from adorable cherry ornaments on sandals to snake prints and patent leather. Of course, all will feature Sui's signature bold color palette.
As for collaborating with Hush Puppies, the designer said it was a no-brainer.
"You have to focus on your dreams, even if they go beyond common sense. How could this young girl from the suburbs of Detroit become a success in New York? It was always that dream," she said.
She's definitely achieved her dream with these shoes — and we can't wait to get our tootsies into them!
