Make the most out of your messy head
Bad hair happens to the best of us, and extreme bad-hair-days can make you want to cancel plans and stay home.
When wearing a messy pony or even a paper bag isn't an option, here are a few accessories that will help you to make the most out of a bad hair situation.
Rock ribbon headbands
Easy and fun, ribbon headbands are inexpensive and add a little extra pop to any outfit. A perfect accessory for a difficult hair day, they dress up a simple ponytail and keep fly-aways at bay. Experiment with different widths and patterns to switch up your look. Double-up your ribbon headbands for a unique and super-sassy hair do.
Keep your headband in place by spraying a little hairspray in the area where the headband will sit on your head before putting it on. Bobby pins work wonders too!
Show your style with a head wrap
Cute and casual, scarves and wraps are easy, fun and bohemian chic. You can wear messy hair down or pulled back in a low pony with head wraps, like the Tasha 'Stud Muffin' Head Wrap at Nordstrom (shown above). Or pick up a large square, silk scarf and channel your inner Grace Kelly by sporting the Kelly head wrap. All you need to do is:
Find your fedora
A straw fedora is hip and looks good on everyone. A must-have hair accessory, fedoras are fun, flirty and available in lots of colors and prices. They look great with lots of spring-time clothes and accessories, as well as summer tanks and swim wear. Pick up a classic straw fedora from Urban Outfitters for just $24.
Get creative with hair pins
Pick up plain hair pins at your local drugstore and decorate with unique charms, ribbons, flowers or beads for a one-of-a-kind look that is sure to fit your style. Unique pins are the perfect accessory for decorating a side pony or messy bun.
Go to local or online artist communities and shops to pick up original hair accessories. Many jewelry makers also create pins that are beautiful, interesting and often not as expensive as some of their other pieces. A little hair bling can go a long way in correcting a bad hair day!
