Known for her one of a kind pieces that have been seen on the likes of Kelly Osbourne and Ashley Greene, Cassini is not only the youngest fashion designer at 12 years old, but a true fashion force as she gets ready to debut her new Style Network show, Confessions of a Fashionette, during the middle of New York Fashion Week on Feb. 14 at 8 p.m. EST.
Cassini: I'm in the process of designing and getting ready for my trunk show for buyers. The show follows me as I get inspired by the looks at New York Fashion Week and design to impress so I can be a manufacturer and an international designer.
Cassini: I started designing when I was 4 years old when I started cutting up clothing and began repurposing the material. I then asked for a sewing machine when I was 6 years old and have been designing ever since.
Cassini: Alexander McQueen. His avant-garde designs give me inspiration. I actually try to add those touches to my designs. Also, Karl Lagerfeld. He has magical hands! Everything he touches turns to gold. He really carried Coco Chanel's tradition, but added that modern touch that I also like to do.
Cassini: I love the color blocking designers have continued to do this season. Also, the material blocking with sequins and lace. [Check out Cynthia Rowley's collection.]
Cassini: A lot of my designs actually already have color blocking!
Cassini: A leopard item because leopard is fabulous! If you wear a T-shirt and jeans and add that touch of leopard, you're instantly fabulous. Also, big black sunglasses because they go with everything. Finally, a simple black dress because you always want something easy and flattering to throw on.
Cassini: The show will hopefully inspire people to follow their dreams and stay true to themselves in terms of fashion because style ultimately reflects your personality. Also, don't wait until you're older to achieve your goals. I didn't!
