DNA facials: The latest celebrity trend?

Sadie Murray is the go-to girly girl when it comes to all things style and beauty in So Cal. This fashion and beauty PR pro may be a petite blonde, but she’s got a big personality. And, she just might be the real life version of Legally ...

Want flawless celeb skin?

Think celebrities just have good genes? Well…maybe. The latest craze in Los Angeles is a futuristic facial just outside of the city that actually uses your own DNA to renew the skin. I got a chance to test it out myself.

Paradise at the Four Seasons Westlake Village

I was recently invited to a "Sparty" at the Four Seasons Westlake Village during the first ever Four Seasons Global Spa Week for beauty insiders to experience a star treatment from their uber-luxe menu. Spa service du jour: Dr. Ronald Moy's famous DNA Growth Factor Facial — exclusive to the Westlake Village resort (the largest of all the Four Seasons spas worldwide). I heard that celebs like Cindy Crawford, Ali Landry and Jennifer Lopez were recently flocking to this Los Angeles spa, so I was excited to get my red carpet treatment on.

Just 45 minutes outside of Beverly Hills, this impressive property is nestled between mountains, tall trees and the sound of… nothing. I've never heard such loud silence — we're still in LA, right? It was magical. I was ready to relax.

Before entering the spa, I was blown away by the gorgeousness of the hotel… beautiful floral displays in the lobby, sparkly decor and the friendliest staff ever, but not in the annoying way where everyone you pass says hello five times. (It was more like a knowing, subtle smile that says, "Yes, Sadie, you're in paradise and we know it. Welcome.") I wasn't even to the spa yet and I already felt like skipping.

After sashaying into heaven's gates, I was ushered into the changing rooms, slipped on my plush, white robe and headed out to the waiting area overlooking the pool. I snagged a cup of hot, detox tea (don't mind if I do) and breathed in the faint smell of eucalyptus from the steam rooms. Am I a celebrity right now, or what? I was lost in the moment and for a split second, I was Reese Witherspoon just enjoying a normal day at this lavish Four Seasons spa. I woke up from my daydream, "Hi Sadie!" I was greeted by the resort's "Curator of Calm" Damien Craft (he's the Spa Director, but don't you love his fancy title?) and Allison Rhodes (the hotel's PR/Social Media whiz). They gave me a tour of the jaw-droppingly stunning spa. Passing through three tranquility lounges covered in floor to ceiling orchids and walking over the Asian-inspired, red bridge covering the indoor pond, I was feeling very Zen as they led me to one of their private spa suites.

Um, now we're talking. If you can book one of the exclusive suites at this spa, you need to (out of control). Complete with a flat screen, fireplace, bed, shower, extra-large tub and wet bar, I was just about ready to move in (I wondered what the rent would be like). I had a quick salad and glass of bubbly outside on the patio (next to my private whirlpool Jacuzzi… that's right, pretty big time) and was met by the lovely aesthetician Bette who would be giving me this DNA Facial I had heard so much about.

DNA Growth Factor Facial

Created by Beverly Hills dermatologist Dr. Ronald Moy, the DNA Growth Factor Facial is apparently the future of skin care. The lovely Bette explained to me that the treatment targets the skin's own DNA, transforming aging and photo-damaged skin to a younger, healthier version (yes, please!).

After cleansing and exfoliating my skin, Bette put an amino acid glycolic peel on my face and décolleté. There's a definite tingle to this peel, so you know it's working. She even put a little on my hands to get rid of sunspots. After about five minutes, the peel gently removed dull surface cells and prepared my skin for an infusion of Dr. Moy's DNAEGF Renewal treatment. This formula contains a growth factor from Iceland combined with DNA repair enzymes that really make the skin perfectly dewy. After a shoulder, neck and hand massage, my treatment had come to an end (I pretended to fall asleep so I could stay a little longer, don't tell). It was everything it was cracked up to be and more. No wonder so many celebrities escape to this incredible spa.

As for my skin? I got compliments for the next week and when asked how my face was so glowy, I told them it was just in my DNA.

To book your own celeb-style treatment, go to the Four Seasons' website. Ask for the Curator of Calm and tell him I sent you. Follow the Four Seasons Westlake Village on Twitter @FSWestlake.

Can't make the trip to the spa just yet? Don't worry! Dr. Moy's entire DNA Skin care line is available for purchase.
