2011 MET Gala: Best dressed celebs

The annual gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art is described as the Oscars of the fashion world for good reason: All of the who's who in fashion, entertainment and publishing step out in their flashiest gowns to celebrate – what else? – fashion!

The 2011 MET Gala – themed as Savage Beauty – honored the life and work of late designer Alexander McQueen.

And honor they did! Quite a few celebrities turned up in some incredibly gorgeous gowns. Who rocked the best-dressed list?

Sarah Burton

Alexander McQueen head Sarah Burton topped off her royal wedding dress triumph with the 2011 MET Gala. She was the belle of the ball in her flowy gown from the Alexander McQueen collection.

Taylor Swift

What can we say about our beloved Taylor Swift? The country crooner absolutely floored us with her J. Mendel gown -- it's absolutely perfect for her body shape and skin tone. However, we're thinking her makeup is a bit too overstated for the look -- the red lips just don't fit in here.

Gisele Bundchen

Brazillian supermodel Gisele Bundchen stunned in this vintage Alexander McQueen gown. Her makeup and hair are perfectly understated here -- all the attention was on the dress, anyway!

Jennifer Hudson

Jennifer Hudson's incredible body and flawless skin really set off this stunning Vera Wang gown.

Andre Leon Talley

Women can't have all the fun, right? Andre Leon Talley thinks so -- and Vogue's fabulous contributing editor amped up the fashion power of his tux with a purple wrap and red shoes. You betta werk, Andre!

Miranda Kerr

New mom Miranda Kerr walked the 2011 MET Gala red carpet wearing this ballerina-inspired Marchesa gown. Seriously, we still can't get over that she only had a baby three months ago.

Kristen Stewart

We were on the fence at first about Kristen Stewart's red Proenza Schouler gown, but it's really grown on us. Her petite bod looks incredible in it too. Word on the street is that she showed up to the red carpet with two boys on her arms -- and neither were boyfriend Robert Pattinson. Instead, she let the Proenza Schouler boys escort her to the ball.
