Have you ever wondered why celebrities have such smooth, glowing skin? Sure, they’re blessed with great genes and a team of professional makeup artists -- but when it comes to real celebrity complexion perfection, it’s regular facials that help keep them red-carpet ready. These are not just any facials; they know who to call to get the best, and her name is Joanna Czech.
Star-studded skin care
Joanna Czech -- famed aesthetician to the stars at Paul Labrecque Salon and Spa -- regularly gives a bevy of red-carpet regulars and A-list celebs their enviable glow. Czech, whose regular clientele is a Who's Who of gorgeous stars including Kate Winslet, Uma Thurman, Kim Cattrall, Sting, Trudie Styler, Cate Blanchett, Kyra Sedgwick and Christy Turlington, is well regarded for her amazing beauty and skin treatments and advice. She let us in on some of her celebrity skin-saving secrets.
When we asked what it is about her facials that has attracted such a star-studded following, she said, "Cruel honesty and personalized, customized treatments depending upon the client's age, day, season or month of the year." And the facials work.
Skin care dos & don'ts
Czech says over-exfoliating and over-peeling are two of the biggest skin care mistakes she sees her clients making. These two facial faux pas can lead to redness, irritation and an otherwise less-than-ideal complexion.
Sun exposure, poor diet and not enough hydration are the other issues that lead to skin losing its luster. "The most common complaint is dehydration," Czech says. "I tell clients they can combat this with a proper moisturizing nighttime regime."
Her must-have product picks include Environ and Nude Skincare. Nude contains pre- and probiotics, while Environ contains vitamins A, C and E and antioxidants -- all important skin-boosting ingredients.
Of all the treatments Czech offers, A-listers line up quickest for Sapphire 3 Photo Abrasion Therapy -- an innovative exfoliation treatment that uses LED light therapy and granules of sapphire to erase fine lines and tighten skin. "After cumulative treatments, LED light application reduces the appearance of wrinkles, acne blotchiness and age spots," Czech explains. "LED therapy stimulates collagen production, promotes cell growth and faster healing, destroys bacteria and is a perfect anti-aging procedure."
Czech also offers ultrasound water peels and soothing facials that incorporate products from Nude and Environ.
