It used to be that creating perfectly wavy locks (pictured here on Lauren Conrad) required you to wrap your hair around the barrel of an old-fashioned curling iron -- making sure to hold the clamp open to avoid marks. Here's how to use it:

Dry hair as you normally would, adding a small amount of some styling product.

Separate hair into sections. Wrap each around the rod, away from your face.

Allow your hair to cool completely. Then, lightly hairspray and run your fingers through the curls to loosen them up into waves.
