Green your makeup bag

It can be hard to find pure and healthy substitutes to our favorite beauty products. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't try. The green queens at Better Organic Choice (BOC) recently rummaged through the makeup bags of the SheKnows crew in search of toxic products. What did they find? And what do they recommend? Read on!

Green your makeup bagFavorite: DiorShow mascara

BOC Feedback: To be 100% honest, there is nothing like this product. We love what it does but we don't like all of the ingredients. It contains six different kinds of parabens and BHT, and its emulsifying agent, triethanolamine, is a known carcinogen. This single product has been our hardest challenge to switch (both professionally and personally).

Suggestion: Try Mascara by Mineral Fusion, infused with antioxidants. It has a full rich texture similar to DiorShow.

Favorite: Garnier Fructis anti-sun damage eye cream

BOC Feedback: This product infuses natural ingredients (avocado oil) with carcinogenic ingredients like parabens.

Suggestion: We recommend Suki Repair Eye Balm with ingredients such as evening primrose and organic grape-seed that combat dryness and dehydration.

Favorite: Nars bronzer in Laguna

BOC Feedback: Great color! We understand why you love this product. Unfortunately it does contain parabens.

Suggestion: We recommend Mineral Fusion bronzer in Luster.
