Green your makeup bag

It can be hard to find pure and healthy substitutes to our favorite beauty products. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't try. The green queens at Better Organic Choice (BOC) recently rummaged through the makeup bags of the SheKnows crew in search of toxic products. What did they find? And what do they recommend? Read on!

Suki Lip RepairFavorite: Suki Pure Facial Moisture - Balancing serum

BOC Feedback: Great choice: Suki is BOC-approved!

Suggestion: If you're looking for a similar product, try Blissoma A+ Moisture Serum, with niacinamide and rose otto.

Favorite: CoverFx Mint Glaze for lips

BOC Feedback: This product is not heavily toxic (no parabens or BHT).

Suggestion: A BOC-approved alternative is Suki Lip Repair.

Favorite: Olay In-Shower Body Lotion with Shea Butter

BOC Feedback: This is a unique product that doesn't quite exist in other forms. It contains questionable ingredients like DMDM Hydantoin, added fragrance and Disodium EDTA.

Suggestion: Since it's not really saving you a step in your routine (you still apply it as you apply lotion), we'd suggest using a Shea butter-based cleanser in the shower or a Shea butter lotion after you shower instead. For a cleanser, try Everyday Shea Body Wash, with Shea butter and coconut oil. Or try a Shea butter lotion like Shea Terra.
