Bizarre Beauty Treatments

For centuries, women have been committing acts of medieval torture on themselves just to look, seem, smell or even just feel more beautiful. Here are the 10 biggest OMG WTF beauty rituals you might not know about... (and if you have tried one of them, tell us all about it because we haven't found anyone brave enough to try them yet!)

Skin pokers

Yeah, I looked at this picture and envisioned a big, burly executioner in a torture chamber, somewhere around the 15th century.

But no, this is an actual breakthrough (pun completely intended) in skin rejuvenation. The concept is simple — the pin-pricks puncture the skin just enough to break it and reveal the new skin underneath.

In comparison to chemical peels and dermabrasion, this spiky roller can actually break down and diminish scars and skin blemishes. The idea behind this is that you penetrate the skin just enough so that the natural healing process begins.

The MTS Roller is unique because it produces maximum results without expensive equipment and without removing too many skin layers. Treatments are comparatively inexpensive and pose minimal risks.

The starter kit is $180, but you can contact your local spa center to find out if they practice this method – of course, they'll have their own costs.

I will be doing none of this! LoL! I'll stick to just putting a few drops of coconut oil on my skin after washing my face. Has really improved my complexion! However, that skin pricker sounds kind of interesting... KIND OF.. :)

when I was 15 I was on vacation in Croatia, a local lady with beautiful skin told me to pick up a snale and rub it on my skin because I had, like most 15 year olds, bad acne. I laughed it off and never did it because it just seemed gross. Now that I read about the snale cream I dont think it would have been such a bad idea..

I cant believe that such things exist but then like they say, nature is the best antidote to our beauty problems! www.stylelifefashion

LILO D July 04, 2012 | 7:36 AM is right but I have to say I would prob try the snail cream the placenta face cream and bull sperm conditioner. The snail cream seems cool, the face cream is ewww but I heard good reviews bout it and the bull sperm it doesn't have to touh my face it's just hair so wth il o for it.

NIka June 19, 2012 | 6:39 PM

I don't think I could ever do any of these except for maybe the snail cream, it's not like it's actually made of ground up snails, just a compound found in snails. But bull sperm, pee gargle, and placenta drinks, those just...those are just vomit worthy.

Erica June 13, 2012 | 9:48 AM

Really, wtf?!?! Bull sperm conditioner? Shivers.

Tanya Frey June 11, 2012 | 4:10 PM

To be honest I will try anything to see if it works. Maybe a lot of these do seem strange, personally they are a bit out there, but I like to keep the perspective that I should first consider why it is not strange at all to someone else. And you say no one would try these products, you need more people like me :)
