Fresh-faced and glowing for prom

You'll probably look like a million bucks walking down that staircase to your doe-eyed date. But after a few hours of eating, dancing, sweating and (dare we say...) kissing, that cakey makeup will leave you looking like a wet dog. Follow these steps to keep your makeup fresh and naturally gorgeous all night.

Fever-flushed cheeks and glistening lips, paired with your glowing skin, will make you look like an ethereal beauty. Try Tarte's Spring Greening Reusable Straw Palette (1) (available at Sephora), apply the peach shadow to the inner corners of the upper lids. Blend the green shadow into the center of the lid and outer corners up to the creases. Then, apply the golden shadow under the lash lines. Add Lash Hugger Natural Mascara (2) to the top lashes, then coat lower lashes with Bottoms Up - Lower Lash Mascara (3).

Give cheeks a pop of color with Tarte's Flush Cheek Stain (4) applied to the apples and blended well.

The trick to scoring fever-flushed cheeks without looking clownish is to apply the cream blush to apples of the cheeks first, then blend your foundation on top. Add some tawny gloss to lips using the sparkly, pink peach shade from the palette and you'll be naturally gorgeous and ready for prom!

Go bold with your prom makeup look

A spring makeup trend you can use for prom to look beautiful and not overdone is to go slightly bold -- either with your eyes or with your lips, but not both.

Bold eyes

Dress up your eyes in vibrant pink and purple shades. Maybelline's Expert Wear Quad Eye Shadows (1) have descriptions etched into the shadows themselves so you can't go wrong on where to apply each color. Sweep the lighter "Lid" shade onto your lid. Blend the medium "Crease" shade into your eye crease. Apply the lightest "Brow Bone" shade to your brow bone and the inner corner of your eye. Blend the darkest "Outer Corner" shade into the outer corner and along lower lash line. Try Tulips in Twilight or Bold Blossoms for the perfect color.

And don't forget to amp up your lashes with Define-a-Lash Volume Mascara (2) to complete your stunning look.

Bold lips

If you decide you'd rather rock your lips, go light and natural with the rest of your makeup and then choose a bold color (red hot and berry bright shades are in) for your lips. Try L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick in True Red (3).
