Draping
With menswear, structured jackets and boyfriend jeans dominating the fall runways, it was a nice breath of fresh air to see designers show a lighter, more feminine look on spring runways. "At the antithesis of the scale with all this tribal and fusion of multicultural dressing, we also saw a lot of feminine draping," Downing says. "We saw it at the runway at Balenciaga last season with the draped skirts, blouses and draped dresses even; we saw it on red carpet at the Golden Globes a couple of weeks ago, too. It's a very romantic and very feminized spirit."
