Cheap and chic
Mary Hall, author of The Recessionista blog, says she particularly likes beach totes from Target, Walmart, Kohl's and H & M. Her favorite from Felix Rey for Target is the straw tote for $49.99. This beach-inspired casual bag has a printed lining, gold accents like the shell featured on front, and includes interior pockets for money or your cell phone. This bag is only available online, not available in Target stores.
For an extremely cheap price of $6, you can have the brightly colored four-piece beach tote by No Boundaries, available at Walmart. This mesh bag provides all your beach essentials including a straw beach mat, cosmetic case and drawstring backpack tote. It also has convenient pockets to store your belongings.
Like the four-piece tote, the tote with beach mat, Newport News for $34, can also help you save that extra buck by providing a rolled straw beach mat attached to the roomy canvas bag. Similarly, the Volcom Suit Yourself beach bag and towel from Tilly's, $40, includes a towel that rolls up and secures to the front of this lemon-colored bag.
Fashionable straw bags
These next totes don't come with extra beach supplies, but they are certainly fashionable and roomy straw pieces: The structured straw tote from Gap, $49.50, is big enough to carry beach supplies or groceries. The square shape and flat bottom allow it to sit upright. The straw bucket tote, Newport News for $29, is available in either vibrant green or raspberry. It features a zip close and interior zip pockets.
For an even brighter straw number, check out Billabong's Ugadi tote, $30. This multi-colored basket weave features faux leather handles and oversized wooden buttons. With all the colors of the rainbow, it's easy to match with suits.

Eco-friendly bags
Earth-friendly beachgoers will love the Envirosax organic linen bag 2, $25. The bag is printed with vegetable-based inks and is packaged in a recycled cardboard box that has been printed with organic soy-based waterless inks. Double carrying handles and an open top make it easy to carry lots of supplies. The bag also comes with a tiny drawstring pouch, for easy storage in a glove compartment or handbag.
Another great earth-friendly choice is Target's crazy collage shopper bag, $13. In addition to just looking cool, and being convenient for both shopping and beachside lounging, it's made from recycled material.
"Stripes are another great option for beach totes," says Nancy Kang, owner of Twolive Tree in New York. This roomy and striped swim tote by Aeropostale, $9, has convenient zip pockets for your belongings.
