If your favorite neighborhood spa has a website, sign up for their email list. If not, call and find out how to get on their snail mail list. You will be alerted of any seasonal discounts or special promotions coming up.

Go with a group

Make it a girls day out. Get together with a few girlfriends and make it a spa day. Most spas offer group discounts on certain services when you have five or more people in your group.

Use SpaFinder

The SpaFinder website provides information on over 4,500 day spas, vacation spas and medical spas worldwide. On the site, you will can find listings of current deals, buy gift certificates and learn about treatments offered at each spa.

Head to the beauty school

Beauty and massage schools offer services from students at discounted prices. The students are fully trained and supervised. You get a reduced price, and the student gets the hands-on experience he or she needs to graduate. It's a win-win!

Call for cancellations

Do you have a free day? If you have a flexible schedule, call your local spa in the morning and ask them to let you know if there are any last-minute cancellations. The time is already booked, and they likely won't get a walk-in right when someone cancels (or is a no-show). Therefore, you can often take that spot at a reduced rate.

Get the package deal

If you want to get more than one service, ask about package deals. Most spas sell packages which bundle a variety of services together at one price. You can sometimes even split the services over several visits to get the most for your money (and spread the relaxation over a longer time period).

Save a dollar a day

If you can still can't find the extra money in your budget to splurge on a spa day for yourself, start saving. Put a dollar a day in a jar, and within two months, you will at least be able to at least get a mani-pedi or a facial.

With the pressure and stress of work, relationships and family, it's important to do something special for yourself. For many women, a trip to the spa is just the ticket!
