Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of American women. However with heightened awareness and some changes in lifestyle, you can reduce your risk to this deadly disease. The month of February is American Heart Association Month. To raise awareness about heart disease, as well as money for research, many companies are donating a portion of their sales to the American Heart Association and its Go Red For Women movement.

Go Red For Women "celebrates the energy, passion and power we have as women to band together to wipe out heart disease and stroke." The movement encourages all women to become more aware of the risks of cardiovascular disease, improve their diet and exercise routine, and have regular check-ups.  Go Red For Women is sponsored nationally by Macy's and Merck, however many other companies are behind the fabulous project.

This month, while shopping for fashions, jewelry, accessories and other products, be sure to shop from one of these participating retailers and give from the heart to the heart.
