The 23-year-old decided to post the photos to Imgur to try to debunk myths around birthmarks and announce to the world that she's proud of how she looks.
"I'm absolutely not self conscious about it at all. I actually like it a lot," said Lexxie of the birthmark that covers most of the right side of her face. "A lot of people think it's a bruise. The whole thing that I want to do is teach people what a birthmark is so they don't think it's a bruise — and people might feel more comfortable showing it off."
Lexxie — who also has heterochromia (two different coloured eyes) — revealed that she had been contacted by Channel 4's The Undateables and TLC's Too Ugly For Love but turned them both down.
"I'm really comfortable and I don't get offended easily," she said. "[The booking agent] was very blasé. He tried to cover it and tried to make it prettier than it was. I had to say to him, 'Look, I don't really have a place on the show you're scouting for.' If [people with birthmarks] accepted themselves, they really wouldn't go on a show like that. I would try and get that person to see themselves differently."
Lexxie also posted an image of herself with makeup covering her birthmark.
The response to Lexxie's selfies has been amazing, with the images going viral across the world and generating hundreds of positive comments.
"You look better without makeup," said one person, while another commented, "Dear God, you're attractive."
The freelance digital artist told ABC News that she was delighted with how her images had been received. "It was really amazing in terms of the fact that I've always wanted to raise awareness; I just never figured out how," she said. "The next time they see someone with a birthmark they won't forget. They'll know what it is and they won't get freaked out.
"I always wanted to show a birthmark with an open line of communication, where people could ask lots of questions," she contined. "I understand why people are upset or offended or want to cover it up. I know some people have laser surgery and I don't think that's wrong at all. You have to do what makes you feel comfortable and I feel comfortable like this, that's all."
