Who wants tired-looking, puffy eyes? Answer: nobody. Enter eye creams. Used properly, they help fight the signs of ageing and leave your eyes looking refreshed and brighter than ever. Here's a round-up of the best eye creams on the market and why they made the cut.
If you haven't already got a good eye cream, pencil in some time to hit the beauty counters. Take it from the expert: Emma Hobson, Education Manager for the International Dermal Institute, says that from the age of 25, "a specialised eye product is a must in your regimen."
"A good eye cream/gel will feel light when applied, moisturise and hydrate and absorb effectively without leaving a shiny, oily residue," says Hobson.
It should also target your main concerns. If you're worried about wrinkles and fine lines, Hobson recommends choosing products that contain Retinol 0.1 per cent, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Glucosamine HCL, peptides, Vitamin E and yeast extract. These all stimulate collagen and elastin, which works to smooth, plump and hydrate the skin. If dark circles are getting you, Hobson says to use an eye cream that contains light diffusers as well as vitamin C. Both of these ingredients work to lighten the area underneath the eyes.
To really boost your anti-ageing regimen, switch your cotton pillowcase for a silk one. It may not feel like it, but cotton actually tugs on the delicate skin on your face, which can lead to the signs of ageing popping up way before they're welcome. SLIP makes fantastic silk pillowcases — once you've made the switch, you won't go back. RRP $59.95 slip.com.au.
