Tips for picking the right summer jacket

A jacket for your every need!

From SheKnows Canada
There are so many great summer coats and jackets to choose from this season, so what it really comes down to is what works for you. Pick the right jacket for your needs with this simple guide.

A jacket for your every need!

Comfortable and easy

There's nothing quite as stylish and easy to wear this season as the waterfall jacket. Its flowing lines make it easy to throw over just about anything, and it will dress up your ensemble in no time. Something along the lines of Forever 21's waterfall collar jacket will add effortless style to any outfit.

Simple and protected

If you're looking for a style you can throw on in a variety of weather situations, a denim jacket is a great option. A tailored fit looks stylish but is still easy to move in. Gap's classic denim jacket, for instance, is lightweight and casual, which makes it perfect for day-to-day wear during the summer months. And don't think you're restricted to blue denim this season! Cropped denim jackets are popping up in gorgeous summer colours, such as peacock green and rosy red, so there is lots of fun to be had.

Stylish and sophisticated

A long, light coat is the best option for cool summer nights. A straight cut that falls above the knees looks elegant with the season's dresses and skirts. Something along the lines of Zara's boxy, shimmering linen coat will certainly catch a few admiring eyes.

Sleek and sexy

A well-fitted trench coat is one style no woman should be without. A neutral-toned trench can be worn with virtually anything, and the long cut makes it the perfect cover-up for spring dresses and skirts. Zara's leather detail trench is both incredibly flattering and stylish.

Edgy and daring

When you throw on a coat this summer, do you want to feel like you have a bit of an edge? Then a light leather jacket might be what you're looking for. Avoid black tones, which are far too wintery, and opt instead for light browns, beiges and creams. Or if you're feeling extra daring, try a bright colour, such as red or blue. Just make sure the jacket has a thin lining so you don't overheat on warmer days. You can also go for a cropped cut and track down a style that looks great when left unzipped to allow for extra breathability.
