Spring is here! It’s time to pull out the maxi dresses, sleeveless blouses and short floral skirts. Along with the spring wardrobe comes a new sun-kissed look that has probably been in hiding all winter long. Luckily, there is no need to spend a week on a tropical island to go into the new season looking like a tan, glowing beauty. All it takes is a few simple tricks to give you a fresh and radiant look without a lot of effort.
Instantly feel confident, look toned and boost energy with these two moves.
How it works: Perform the exercise for 1 minute. Repeat 4 times. Incorporate this 4-minute workout once a day
Come into a plank position with forearms on the floor, feet hip-width apart and legs in a straight line off the mat.
Keep your core and glutes engaged the entire time. Engage your glutes as you lift your right leg up to hip height. Come back to center and then lift your left leg up to hip height.
Alternate for 1 minute.
5 Easy steps for natural makeup
Flawless face: Use concealer in specific spots, under eyes and on blemishes.
Use limited foundation: Draw a line with foundation stick on cheek bones, side of your nose and above brows then blend.
Sun-kissed cheeks: Apply a light cream blush to the apples of your cheeks.
Golden eyes: Blend a bronze or gold cream eyeshadow over the lids. Then apply volume-maximizing mascara to the top and bottom lashes.
Kissable lips: Using a light raspberry shade, apply the lipstick with your finger to the center of your lips first. Then blend it with the rest of your lips. Cover with a hydrating (but not sticky) gloss or petroleum jelly.
There are many ways to get healthy, glowing skin before you step into the sun, but airbrush tanning is my favorite since it's completely safe and looks very natural. It can be pricey ($30 to $75 per session), but you'll look fresh off a tropical vacation for an entire week.
Get perfect, beachy waves: My trick to get those loose, natural curls isn't that surprising (or hard to copy). I simply apply a little product (Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray is my favorite) to damp hair before heading out into the sun. It gives sexy, wind-styled texture while also taming frizz and adding body without any stiffness or crunch. You don't need hairdryer, just let the sun do it for you.
Colors: Swap the dark grays, blacks and blues with bright, fresh colors like violet, canary yellow and coral. (Even the little kids are rocking the bright colors.)
Dresses: Flowing dresses give you an effortless “I’m free as a bird” look.
Big shades: Instantly look like a classic Hollywood movie star with glasses that have a large frame.
White lace: look for dresses and skirts made with this romantic fabric.
