Any of these tricks could become your new signature look

Makeup that lets you stand out from the crowd

Tired of your boring old makeup routine? Stop wearing the same eyeshadow-blush-lipstick combo day after day and introduce a new signature look into your beauty arsenal.

Be remembered for one of these awesome, celeb-inspired makeup ideas — but don't forget to make it your own.

Tone down blue shadow

This is not the blue eye shadow of your awkward high school years. Get sophisticated with an icy blue shade that's almost silver. You can play it up or down depending on the occasion, or even use it as a subtle accent color instead of swiping over the entire lid. A playful blue shade doesn't have to look juvenile.

Rock lilac lipstick

Kelly Osbourne is an endless source of inspiration for inventive makeup (and hairstyles). She's always making daring choices. Walk on the wild side with some Kelly-esque lilac lipstick, an on-trend look that's safe for those of us who aren't red carpet regulars. Go for toned-down eyeshadow by day, glam cat eyeliner by night.

Go for bold brows

Bold eyebrows are having a moment, due in no small part to Cara Delevingne. The great thing about eyebrows is that they're easy to fake. Just add some color using a pencil. You'll stand out among a sea of thin, overly plucked eyebrows. You can skimp a bit on the tweezing when making bold eyebrows your new signature, but since they'll be drawing lots of attention, make sure they have a nice shape.

Sport a modern smoky eye

The new smoky eye is seductive with just a hint of sparkle, almost like graphite. Take a cue from Coco Rocha and avoid going overboard by choosing a light coral lip shade that glistens. You can skip the organza lampshade dress, though.

Play up your lips

An almost-black plum lip looks so 2014 when paired with super-minimal eye makeup. Lorde goes light on the shadow and totally forgoes eyeliner, making her deep purple lipstick stand out against her pale skin. A little bit grunge-goth, yes. But oh so stylish as well. This is a look that can easily be toned down, but go high-wattage if you have the guts.

Make flushed cheeks your thing

It's no wonder that Elle Fanning played Princess Aurora in Maleficent — she really looks the part. You know what helps? Her blushed cheeks. If you aren't naturally flushed, find your perfect shade and apply liberally (but not too liberally). The key to making your blush stand out is to tone down everything else. Elle rocks a pinkish-nude lip and subtle silvery eyes, allowing the flushed cheeks to really take over. You'll look like you just came back from a jog. Only you didn't, so you'll still smell fresh.
