Call The Fashion Police!
Oops... even celebrities get it wrong sometimes! We're telling you why Chrisette Michele and Katy Perry's Grammy Awards fashions fell short in our weekly feature. Learn from the stars' sartorial slip ups!
Chrisette Michele is a Grammy-winning R&B singer, and while her vocals have won awards, her red carpet fashion isn't getting rave reviews from us. Chrisette mixed two trends for her Grammy night look: menswear and lingerie, but unfortunately, neither one works.
Her boldly printed pantsuit from Etro is too busy and distracting. We would have done printed pants on the bottom and paired it with a solid blazer or vice versa. Then she bared her boobs with a bra top that shows through the suit, which only has one closure below her cleavage. Showing some decolletage is sexy, but she's giving away all the goods in this getup.
The final verdict? It's winter, so the white pumps also seem off season to us. We would love to see her rock a solid pantsuit with a little less of her undergarments showing to turn this fashion fail around, but her bright lip and simple hairstyle do get our stamp of approval.
Katy Perry was trying to hit a high note in this gauzy gown but as usual, her style sense is off key. The singer, who performed her hit "Dark Horse" during the big show, hit the carpet flashing her famous cleavage in this sheer Valentino gown.
Yes, the Grammys are music's biggest night, but must Katy take the theme so literally? Her couture dress is covered with music notes, lyrics and it's just so cheesy. The bow on the back, layers of tulle and big accents on the sleeves are overwhelming us.
The final verdict? We thought perhaps Katy had this dress custom made for the occasion, but it actually debuted on the runway in Paris just last week. John Mayer's main squeeze styled her hair back in a bun, just like the model did, but this is one of those runway looks that doesn't really translate in real life.
