After taking a look at lipstick shades that walked the fall 2013 runways, we broke down which colors work well with certain skin tones. Check out what we found so you can not only wear this season's best colors, but choose ones that will enhance your natural beauty.
For fair or pale skin tones, pink and red lip shades will be your go-to choices. And this fall, Diane von Furstenberg threw a serious punch of pink on the runway with a very vibrant lip choice, M.A.C. Lipstick Full Fuchsia. (M.A.C., $15).
But for those a little less daring, a red lip looked fresh and natural in Prada's Fall 2013 show, Clinique Different Lipstick (Clinique, $15). Since other designers like Marc Jacobs and Proenza Schouler went with nude-colored lips for a pared down look, Prada's delicate touch of red became a happy medium between the trends of shocking pink and barely-there color.
Whether the shade is strawberry blond, auburn or fiery red, redheads have specific complexions and their own set of makeup colors that bring out their natural beauty. To play that up, lip colors that are rich with coral, peach or brown tones are perfect to complement them. At Nina Ricci, a matte orange hue packed a quiet (through its texture), but powerful, punch. Nars Semi Matte Lipstick in Heat Wave (Nars, $26).
Envisioning dark brown lipstick might not immediately paint a pretty picture in your head, but at 3.1 Phillip Lim, models somehow showed a bit of a rocker edge with a touch of ladylike elegance in a rich, chocolate-colored lipstick. Bobbi Brown Lip Color Chocolate (Bobbi Brown, $25).
Pinks, and especially reds, look striking against a darker complexion — and this fall, two shades that were most featured were mulberry and bright fire hydrant red. At the Fall 2013 Fendi and Louis Vuitton shows, models were sporting wine-stained lips that looked a little reminiscent of our childhood-eating-purple-ice-pop days! M.A.C. Lipmix in Burgundy. (M.A.C, $15).
A bold and attention-grabbing red was on the Donna Karan and Oscar de la Renta Fall's 2013 runways and could be a rich color to incorporate into those warm fall clothing ensembles. Lancome — Red Stiletto (Lancome, $22).
