Fast morning makeup

Between cooking breakfast, getting the kids off to school and preparing for a day at the office, you don't have time for an extensive beauty routine. But just because you are short on time doesn't mean you have to skimp on beauty. Check out our 5-minute makeup routine to look fabulous in a flash.

Eye shadow application

Foundation

It doesn't take more than 30 seconds to apply foundation or pressed powder. Remember to use a light hand. You can always add more makeup, but wiping off excess can be a hassle. If you don't use foundation, you can keep a sun-kissed glow by apply bronzer with a big fluffy brush to the places the sun hits your face naturally -- forehead, cheeks, nose and chin.

Eyes or lips

Play up your eyes or your lips -- not both -- for daytime. Eye makeup shouldn't take more than two minutes. Line your upper lashes with a brown eye pencil in a thin, precise line. Sweep a neutral shade of shadow over your entire lid, and then apply a deeper shade of the same hue into your crease. Blend, blend, blend. To make your eyes look bigger and brighter, apply a little bit of white eyeliner in the corner of your eye, near your nose. Use a one-coat mascara to eliminate the time you wait between coats. Add a coat of lip gloss and you are almost done.

If you are playing up your lips, skip the eye shadow and just use a coat of brown mascara. Line your lips with a liner that closely matches your natural lip color. Add your favorite shade of lipstick and finish off your lips with a touch of gloss for high-impact shine.

Cheeks

If you need a little color, smile in the mirror and apply blush to the apples of your cheeks. For daytime, use a rose or peach shade that isn't too deep. Sweep the color upward and outward with a fluffy brush.

Choose multi-purpose products

If you only have five minutes to do your face, you don't have time to search through dozens of cosmetics. Pick products that can serve multiple purposes. A tinted moisturizer with built-in sunscreen can even out your skin tone, hydrate your skin and protect it from the sun. Check out these other multi-purpose beauty products.

Stay well-groomed

Get your eyebrows waxed regularly, don't let your roots show and do all the little extras ahead of time. A little preparation can go a long way in speeding up your morning beauty routine.
