Shades That Complement Brown Hair
Brunettes might think that blondes have more fun, but brunettes can have more fun with eye shadow colors.
To bring out the brown in your hair and have a nice, natural look, stick to warm colors like brown, gold and copper. A great golden copper shimmer for daytime is Sephora Collection's Warm Sand ($12). Wear this color alone for an understated look or pair with a soft cocoa color for a little more definition.
Consider your skin tone & eye color.
For dark eyes and medium skin tone, play around with purples like lavender and plum, or with a deep emerald green. Pair one of these colors -- such as Bare Minerals Berry Flambe ($13) -- with brown and gold for a great nighttime look.
Get the blues (& grays).
Blues and grays will lend a smoky, sultry look to your eyes. Choose carefully, though: Pastel or light grays and blues, or those tinged with orange, yellow, mustard or lime green, will clash with your coloring and make you look like you're on your way to a costume party.
