Steal From The Boys
You don't need to sacrifice your girliness to pull off the borrowed-from-the-boys look. Follow these simple dos and don'ts to rock the fall menswear trend, while still looking like a lady.
Designers like Rag & Bone, Carolina Herrera and Rachel Zoe sent tailored suits, crisp shirts and classic oxfords down the fall 2013 runways. And while mannish, when styled correctly, each look appeared femininely chic.
Want to test the trend out for yourself? It's easy. As long as you follow these dos and don'ts.
DO mix feminine with masculine
Pair a boys'-inspired fitted blazer with a flirty skirt, rather than opting for the full-on suit.
DON'T be afraid of color
Instead of sporting a classic black menswear tuxedo jacket, for example, try something colorful, or one with a metallic lapel. It's unexpected, sleek and gives the look just the right amount of girliness.
DO ditch the shirt
Rocking a pantsuit? Add a touch of femme with a cool tee under the blazer, instead of that classic button-front shirt like the guys would normally wear.
DON'T forget about embellishments
What's the easiest way to make any look appear feminine? By adding embellishments. Especially when it comes to accessories. Testing out a pair of two-tone brogues or flats? Try a pair with a bit of glitter for a subtle touch of girly glamour.
