Guiding Light was the longest running radio/television show in the history of television. They recently celebrated their 72nd year, which, it turns out, was their final year. They were cancelled Friday September 28 2009. The first book, fans should enter to win is “The Complete Family Album” gives fans a look at how the legendary Irna Phillips created the show in 1937 as a 15 minute radio show, how it transitioned to television in 1952 and sends you on a journey through six decades with numerous photos to illustrate. The second book, “The 50th Anniversary Celebration” volume traces the history of the show for 50 of the 72 years. In this book, you’ll pour over excerpts from scripts, character listings and numerous photos. The soap will never be seen again, however, two lucky fans will win one of these fantastic books, to commemorate the show.
